Outstanding Chapter Award

Purpose: To honor the chapter that consistently excels in overall performance.

Editorial Quality: A high acceptance rate of member submissions.

Engagement & Participation: High member involvement in journal activities (workshops, peer reviews, discussions).

Consistency: Maintaining high standards across multiple publication cycles.

Awarded by: Chairperson, once per issue
Outreach & Growth Chapter

Purpose: To recognize the chapter most effective at expanding THSJ’s community.
-
Criteria:

Referrals: Successful introduction of new schools or student participants to THSJ (at least 3 new partner schools or a 20% increase in new contributors over the previous cycle). Refer new schools by setting up Instagram/Discord GCs with the Chairperson (@meikh_neiht on Instagram, thienkbui on Discord) or a member of the communications team.

Diversity & Reach: Demonstrated effort in recruiting students from varied backgrounds, regions, or academic interests.

Sustained Engagement: Ensuring that referred schools/students remain active and contribute meaningful work.

Academic Excellence Chapter

Most Innovative Curriculum

Purpose: To spotlight the chapter that makes the best use of the 8-week curriculum.

Criteria:

Curricular Adaptation: Tailoring the 8-week program to suit local needs while maintaining core academic and journalistic standards.

Measurable Outcomes: Improvement in students’ writing, research, or critical thinking skills as seen in the chapter's academic performance.

Outstanding Editor Award

Purpose: To recognize an editor who provides exceptional support to authors and ensures high-quality standards.

Editorial Rigor: Detailed, constructive feedback that improves the quality of submissions.

Mentorship: Helping new contributors navigate the review process, encouraging revision, and supporting academic growth.

Purpose: To encourage and reward individuals who play a key role in expanding THSJ’s reach.

Referrals: Directly referring new students and/or schools to THSJ (e.g., at least 5 new active student participants or 2 new schools in a publication cycle).

Follow-Through: Ensuring referred participants integrate successfully, receive guidance, and contribute meaningfully.

Cross-Branch Involvement: Participation in joint research or editing projects with members from other branches or countries.

Best Academic Contribution

Purpose: To honor the student whose work most significantly advances scholarly conversation.
